Media

The media that I am offering has been deliberately limited to fine art type medias. My reasoning is that this is my preference for this type of printing and is media that you don't see traditional photographic labs offering. If you are wanting glossy or satin photographic prints then I suggest looking at Kens Cameras excellent digital dump service.

If you have a media you have purchased yourself (in A2 or 17" size) then I am happy, for a nominal charge, to test this media and profile for accurate colour output.

Innova Soft White Cotton 280gsm

This is the main media that I use for most printing. Usually I purchase in A2 sheets for ease of handling, however I do have it in 17" for panoramic printing if required. Soft White Cotton has a "soft" slightly textured surface (which is easy to damage so handle carefully). It is made of 25% Cotton linters and 75% Alpha Cellulose. The surface has a special matte coating, designed for high quality fine art & photographic reproduction. It is a natural white archival quality paper with excellent colour gamut.

Bockingford Watercolour Paper 300gsm

This media is a traditional watercolour paper, not specifically designed for inkjet printing. Because of the way the colour inks are formulated the paper does not hold a high coloured inkload and looks quite mottled when printed on in colour, so colour is not recommended. What I do really like it for is B&W printing (either neutral B&W or tinted B&W) as it has a nice textured surface and gritty print quality that suits B&W prints. Due to the quite light black point it does tend to suit high key images over low key images.

Innova Soft Textured Natural White 315gsm

Innova soft-textured, has a natural white finish with a slightly structured, soft-textured surface equivalent to a traditional etching fine art paper. Because it is free of optical brighteners it has a quite warm tone to the paper.
